MISSING EQUINE Effie Sue, Near W. Chesterfield, NH, 03466

Description : Haflinger Mare missing from pasture: 7 horses were at home at end of 1/4 mile driveway. at about 2:30am Effie went through the fence as usual and brought a gelding with her. She regularly goes through fencing to eat the grass on the yard side of her paddock. She then waits to be let back in for breakfast. Owner (myself) got up to check on Effie and the gelding when one dog barked so as not to wake up husband. In the time it took to put on shoes Effie had vanished. there were no sounds of struggle, no calls made by other 6 horses and no mad barking by the dogs. No signs of other animals. No hoof prints. This horse does not stray. She is not a runner. She is an eater. She is a lazy walker and often will drag a back hoof and there is not a single sign of this either. State and local police have been notified and town has been covered with postcards and flyers. People have been riding and walking the trails searching and a search by air has been done.
