9/17/20 Lisa Broderick badge icon I have been following this from day1,talked with Fred last sat when they set up the overnight pens with the mares, talked with Griffin yesterday,Leo is in unfamiliar territory but has all he needs to survive. No motivation to be caught. I feel a strategic " hunt" for him would be more productive then willy nilly roaming around the trails only because NOBODY had laid eyes on him yet. Because of the size of the area you need 20-30 people, set some straight across and have your others come in from the other side like an old fashioned deer drive and push him out ! Nothing else has worked and this might .once you push an area then those people sit on that line and the ones who sat then go to the other side and push back and so on.. it works for deer hunting...just an idea

Griffin Gilman (Leo's Facebook page) posted this on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020: Good morning!! The weekend is approaching. If any of you are able to go searching Saturday, that would be awesome. I’m planning on organizing an organized search Sunday. As many people as we can get, preferably small groups already made by searchers upon arrival. If not- that’s completely okay, I just think it’d be easier so bring your friends!! I also need a volunteer or two to sit in Hayes field and distribute trail maps and waters, as well as give basic guidance if need be. This person will also be asked to check people in as they arrive. This is where you’ll be assigned your “loop.” The goal of this is to split into these small groups and try to cover the entire park depending on the turnout. Hopefully, with the small groups, we can at least get a sighting and have a generalized area as to where Leo is. We are going to be meeting in Hayes field at 9:30am for checkin. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!! Thank you

A Mt. Biker found very fresh manure after dark on One Mile, last night. He also heard some noises in the woods near some open grassy areas - right near manure. He did scare some dear too right around that area. However, whatever he did stir up made a grunt or blow to scare the Mt. Biker off. This mountain biker has been out every night - night riding the trails and searching for Leo. Extremely reliable! We have absolutely heard our horses blow or trumpet when horse camping or even when a turkey gets in their pasture at night. We are very optimistic that he is in the NW section still. Someone made a comment about being on the lower elevations and flatter trails - we agree and think this is true. Think of Leo as an athletic grandpa, he only really does what he needs to... One mile to Lane and back to Hayes Field had no fresh manure or virtually no manure at all. I kicked all the stuff the biker found off the trail. One specific thing about the manure we think is Leo’s is that it tends to be scattered, like he is walking or trotting. And it looks really good! Not diarrhea or stressed. It also looks like more forage than domestic horse manure! Also there is hay down by Bear Brook. There was zero manure around the hay. If we see piles of manure around that hay. We have something there too. Drones are out today. All we need is a sighting with details where and how his condition looked - was he moving okay, did he look frantic, ect. Once we have a solid sighting - we can do so much more but until then we can only keep our eyes peeled. Also if any of you want to do game cams along, one mile to short-cut and short-cut back to Bear Brook that would be helpful. Please place them yourself and post a sign that it’s trying to capture an image of Leo the missing horse. Please only place them at your own risk. I can’t be responsible for checking and recovering game cams. Last, keep canvassing the trails around the marsh, lowland and behind Hayes Marsh, which I think is podunk road. We appreciate the help we are exhausted and want him home. Thx, Fred
