Stolen Horse International Wins “Best Use of Social Media in North America!”
Shelby, NC – Members of the global equestrian community voted Stolen Horse International, aka NetPosse.com, as the winner of the “Best Use of Social Media in North America” in the Equestrian Social Media Awards! Stolen Horse International also won Top 3 for “Best Use of Social Media by a Charity and Best Use of Facebook.”
The ESMAs were set up to reward equestrians across the globe for enriching the online world for horse lovers everywhere. Now in their second year, the ESMAs have been going from strength to strength with over 14,000 voters from more than 120 countries casting their choices in the 2012 awards for the 258 finalists.
During the 9-day run, 2,629 individuals submitted 8,137 nominations and the ESMA Team had the unenviable task of selecting ten finalists in each category from the nearly 2,000 accepted nominees. The selections were made on the basis of unique supporting statements, engagement criteria and the display of good online etiquette. It was a tough job with the standards of nominees being truly exceptional.
The final results were based 70% on scores from the Expert Panel and 30% on votes from the public. The panel is a hand-picked group of the best equestrian marketers, digital professionals, social media gurus and branding experts from across the globe.
Debi Metcalfe, founder and president of the nonprofit organization, accepted her award in an online video and talked with the host of the “Horses in the Morning” radio show with other winners of the ESMA on Monday, March 12.
“I am so excited to receive these awards for Stolen Horse International and am honored to be in the company of so many wonderful nominees. Social networking helps us make a difference in so many lives,” says Metcalfe.
NetPosse, a division of Stolen Horse International, Inc., provides valuable information and assistance in recovering lost, stolen and missing horses, as well as all types of farm equipment and livestock. They also are active in educating the public on horse theft and loss prevention.
Thanks to the speed of the Internet, NetPosse can round up a modern day version of a posse within minutes of filing a report. An alert and call to action goes out to a network of organizations, individuals, businesses, law enforcement and recovery specialists bent on returning lost horses or property.
Over the past several years, Metcalfe has become a champion for the prevention of horse theft and has become a recognized authority in her field. She has appeared on television and various radio programs, in newspaper and magazine articles, and addressed civic groups. Her message is powerful and inspirational.
“I've been closely acquainted with Debi Metcalfe and her mission through Stolen Horse International and Netposse.com, for several years. I believe Debi has a unique call to this work, and her efforts have been invaluable in preventing animal theft, as well as reuniting stolen horses with their rightful owners. This was a difficult field to enter, on several fronts, and Debi donates countless hours (and a considerable amount of cash) to educating horse owners about horse theft and providing practical means to prevent it. I applaud Debi's perseverance and wish her continued success on the journey” – Brenda Imus, Gaited Horse Author and Clinician
Randi Thompson, of the award-winning social media network “How to Market Your Horse Business,” states, “We are thrilled that Stolen Horse International has achieved this well-deserved recognition. The people there have dedicated their lives to helping horse people. Stolen Horse International works closely with law enforcement in their search for missing and stolen horses, locating owners of found horses and so much more.
“Debi Metcalfe is well known in the horse world where she promotes and educates people about horse theft and identification methods through social media, publications, equestrian organizations and tradeshows everywhere. They are an asset to the horse world and have made a difference for many of the people who are a part of it.”
Debi commends the NetPosse volunteers for their contributions to the organization’s accomplishments, “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate and vote for Stolen Horse International and especially Randi Thompson for her guidance in traversing the social media world.”
“This award is for our supporters and NetPosse volunteers because we could never do what we do without the assistance of so many around the world. These awards prove what I say all the time: Never underestimate the power of one. In our case, it is one small nonprofit organization founded because of one stolen horse named Idaho that sends out one NetPosse alert to thousands who become one all over again.”
