STOLEN EQUINE, – VALENTINE aka “V” – ALABAMA

Trafford (Jefferson County), AL Wednesday September 14, 2016

On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, the owner of two horses that were being boarded found out that the property owner of the boarding location gave their horses away without their permission.

Deputy D.T. Sloan asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating the mare, Valentine aka “V”, which is still missing. The name of the actual owner is being withheld at this time due to the active investigation. Deputy Sloan advised that the horses were actually gone for a couple of months prior to the owner filing the theft report due to deception by the boarder. The owner of the horses has filed a stolen equine report with Jefferson County Sheriff Department.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also known as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“The horse owner was boarding 2 horses at a location. The property owner of that location gave the horses away stating that he could not contact the owner for a period of time.”, says Deputy Sloan. “The horses were actually gone for a couple of months prior to the owner filing the theft report due to deception by the boarder.” Deputy Sloan went on to explain that one horse has been located as of 09/14/2016. Valentine was sold on the parking lot of "Noah Ark" livestock sale, in Hanceville, Alabama to an unknown person. The sheriff office is requesting that the purchaser come forward since he is an innocent party to this case and transaction.

On September 14, 2016, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Sloan and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

You will find Valentine’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR005045 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=5045

“Circulating Valentine’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horse could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Valentine’s flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Deputy D.T. Sloan with the Jefferson County Sheriff Department or Stolen Horse International with any information.
