Another Horse Disappears from SC Farm--$1000 Reward Offered for Safe Return
SPARTANBURG, SC, Monday, July 13, 2015—Wednesday, July 8, 2015 the Burton family’s beloved horse was standing in their pasture when the sun went down. Thursday morning there was no trace of the horse. He’d vanished into thin air.
Patricia Burton asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their horse Chancellor, a 25 year old brown Arab/Quarterhorse gelding, who is believed to have been stolen. The family has filed a stolen horse report with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also know as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.
“I fell in love with Chancellor when I first laid eyes on him 13 years ago. Bringing him home was one of the happiest occasions in my life.”, says Pat Burton. “He nuzzled my pocket for carrots. There was nothing like a ride in the woods on my Chancellor.”
On July 13, 2015, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Burton and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.
“There are many unanswered questions that pop into mind but the most important one is, where is Chancellor? Does his disappearance have anything in common with Kitty, missing from the county last month? We hope you will help the Burton family answer that question,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of the organization.
Burton further states, “When Chancellor was not in the pasture last week, my heart broke into a million pieces. Someone did not take a possession, they took a big piece of my heart. I miss him so much. I just want him back.”
You will find Chancellor’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR002553 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=2553
“Circulating Chancellor’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horses could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Metcalfe. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Chancellor’s flyer in public places as well.”
Pictures, flyer, contact informtion, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, the owner or Stolen Horse International with information.
