LA VALLE, Wis. — Two therapy horses, Vicki and Jimmy, reported missing in March from a farm in Wisconsin have been found drowned in the Baraboo River.
A kayaker found the horses in the river Thursday, May 8, 2014 according to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
The owners had suspected that the horses were stolen from September Farms on March 14, 2014. Although the the sheriff’s department were treathing this as a theft, they found no evidence of criminal activity when the horses were found. It is now believed that the horses drowned accidentally, according to the sheriff's department.
The river flows through the farm but questions remain as to how the horses were able to get to the river.
Barbara Knopf had enlisted the help of social media, including the website NetPosse, a division of Stolen Horses International, to search for the horses.
The good new is that now the owners and Knoph have closure and can give the hores a dignified burial.
Stolen Horse International would like to thank everyone who helped in the search, in any way large or small, for their assistance.
"Never underestimate the power of one."
