Sadly, Cupid has been found deceased. Our hearts go out to Kelsey for her loss. We do not have the details but hope to have them soon.
Kelsey Andre Hunt - Cupid's body was recovered and buried today. My heart is hurting at the loss of my sweet Cupie doll. I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the support, willingness to help, and complete lack of hesitation on everyone's part to drop everything (on a holiday weekend, no less) to invest hours and hours in searching for Cupid and spreading the word - thank you SO much to Sarah Mathis Weeks, Teresa Hurdle, Will and Kelley Jennings, Donijo Atkins, Rachel Dyan Solum, Debbie and Lee Cox, Sharon S Brinson, Wesley Jordan, Emily 'Reo' Keener, and Steve and Terry Temple; everyone who helped to spread the word online, especially Michele De Vinney Schmoll and Debi Bailey Metcalfe of Stolen Horse International, Inc. aka NetPosse.com; and the Pasquotank Co. Sheriff's Dept, NetPosse.com, WAVY TV 10, The Daily Advance, and every other news outlet who shared Cupid's story; and Red Swain, who gave up his afternoon today to help lay her to rest.

|Location:||Elizabeth City (Pasquotank County), NC, 27909, USA|
|Incident Description:||During Thanksgiving dinner on 11/28/2013 (about 1800-1830 hours) we heard Cupid's pasture mate whinny. Upon going out to the barn to feed and take care of the horses later that evening (about 2000 hours) I realized Cupid was missing. I walked the pasture fence line several times and found all gates intact and all wire fencing intact except for one area where the bottom wire was broken.
That evening, I traveled Horseshoe Road and searched with a spotlight and didn't see any signs of Cupid.
The next morning (11-29-2013), I examined the area surrounding the pasture and found several very deep hoof marks where the fence had been broken, almost like Cupid had been running and slipped, falling and sliding through the bottom of the fence. A neighbor's dog has recently been terrorizing the horses, so this seems very possible. There were also lots of hoof prints outside of two (out of three) gates to the pasture, like she was trying to get back into the pasture. I also found several hoof prints leading away from the pasture towards Horseshoe Road.
A search was organized for Saturday morning, 11-30-2013. A recovery dog was brought out and followed Cupid's scent for about half a mile northwest on Horseshoe road, and we observed several marks that looked like they could be hoof prints. We searched surrounding roads (Possum Quarter Road, Horseshoe Road, County Street, and Ferry Road) and were unable to find anything.
I will be printing out flyers and distributing them and I have been in contact with our local Sheriff's department and they are aware of the situation. I have been keeping them updated with our efforts as well.|
