NetPosse Report ID # : 2012 (6725)
Description : Ginger - sorrel AQHA mare with four white socks and off center star/stripe - stolen from Cass County, MO. On June 7th I left 2 horses in the care of the Archie Livestock Auction while I arranged transport for them. I was assured of their safety and well being while I was caring for my father in ICU. I tried to arrange transport for the horses, on June 25th my friend arrived at the barn to pick up the animals. She found my mare missing and my gaited gelding nearly starved to death and very stressed out, without access to hay or water and for what appeared to have been more than a day or two. The owner of the barn told me that he had closed the place down after the 7th of June, and lived over an hour away, that he didn't know what went on there! He had no idea where my horse was but suggested that she had wandered out a back gate and was somewhere off on her own. I filed a report with the Cass County Sheriff, contacted all the neighbors of the sale barn property, I even drove around looking for her. I contacted the Missouri Dept of Agriculture, and the Missouri Highway Patrol Rural Crimes Unit. The officer from MHP suggested that I "saddle up and go look for my horse." Last info I was given was by Corp Snooks of Cass Co Sheriffs Dept., he was told by a person from the sale barn that our horse may have been put in with a lot that went to a kill house. She was/is a beautiful animal that doubtfully went to a kill house, she is hopefully somewhere safe and sound. We just want her back, to have this happen while my dad was laying in a hospital bed, fighting for his life, a result of his love for horses, just makes me sick! Especially considering that my dad had been a regular customer of the barn for many years and had spent countless hours & dollars in that business. Our gelding is getting back on his feet, and so is Dad! We are praying for a happy ending all around with the safe return of our Ginger! She was named Ginger by my kids, after the Main Chicken in the cartoon movie, Chicken Run! She is LOVED!!!!
