how found details: This horse was found dead on the private property. Date of death is unknown but probably about 3 days. Gunshot wounds were discovered on the horse. The horse may have had a miscarriage, due to the discharge on the female parts. However, no exact reason for death was evident at this time. The horse appeared to be well kept, until time of death. The horse had been pulled off a truck or out of a trailer by the use of a rope. The rope was around a tree and still tied to the horse's front legs. According to property owner some family members had been 4-wheeling on the property over the last few days and no one told them about the dead horse until it was discovered at 8 am Feb 4, 2007. It appears the horse died at a different location and was dumped on this property. No reports have been filed reporting a stolen horse therefore this case will be closed at this time. Since an owner has not been discovered as of this date, property owner stated that her family would did a big hole and bury this horse on the spot that it was discovered. Lt. Wakeland informed her this report would be written and if anyone reported their horse stolen that an investigator would be assigned to this case. However, as of now this case will be written and placed on file at the Lauren's County Sheriff's Office to document this incident. A copy of this report was furnished to animal control for their information.
