Venus' characteristics: (Per Anne's letter below):
... I have never in my life seen a stallion as sweet as him. He always loves any attention he can get, loves to cuddle and will put his head on your head and in your arm which makes you melt down.
... I forgot to add that Venus is NOT a quiet horse (sounds wise). Wherever he goes, he makes sure people and other horses know he is there. It is one of his characteristics that I also love about him. He is a talker...

Anne's Letter:
Ann Tells Her Story in Letter to Stolen Horse International
I met Venus at my trainer in France. My show horse, Franc Jeu, who is still with me, had tendonitis at the beginning of his 6th season, and I had to put him in pasture after surgery. This left me without a horse to ride, and I started leasing Venus to be able to keep competing. I knew him from being in the barn and even though he is a big horse, I have never in my life seen a stallion as sweet as him. He always loves any attention he can get, loves to cuddle and will put his head on your head and in your arm which makes you melt down.
I did not need a second horse for financial reasons and just wanted to lease him for the recovery year of my show horse. But I fell in love, especially after placing at every show we went to. Venus has a way of making me be a better rider. He makes it seem easy with his power. He felt like the teddy bear every rider would dream of having – always willing, always trying to please, always in a good mood. Needless to say, after my trainer telling a couple of times that he was also for sale and that he would hate to have to take it away from me especially since we got along so well, I gave my best offer – all my savings – and I bought him. I lived for my horses at that time, before I met my husband, Thierry, that same year.
I forgot to mention I was living in France at that time. I met Thierry while he was visiting his parents in France from the US. When we decided to get married, I said I would live in the US only on the condition that my horses and my dog would come with me. I love my animals and they are, for me, part of the family and I would never be able to sell them.
Once again, all of my savings went to get my horses back to the US. I got some very nice offers for Venus on the show circuit at the time we really needed the money, but I could never see myself separated from him, and so I chose the option of sacrificing some of our lifestyle rather than selling him. We did send him to send friends in CA as a stud and got him back last year with his first son on the ground.
We bought a house last year in September with land so we could have the horses living with us. The first of October – the day after Venus’ left – is the one year anniversary of us moving with the horses to this house. It is my husband's birthday and the day I found our Venus was stolen. I wish we could have celebrated this anniversary a better way!!!! We chose that farm for the horses and the dogs so the family could be together, and I am still hoping this place will be Venus’ retirement haven.
Anne
ps- I forgot to add that Venus is NOT a quiet horse. Wherever he goes, he makes sure people and other horses know he is there. It is one of his characteristics that I also love about him. He is a talker ...
