RECOVERED 3/20/08! TWO Paso Fino Endurance Saddles stolen from garage in Salt Lake County, Utah - Dec. 19, 2007

From: Dru Fry
Subject: Stolen saddles
Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2008 14:11:22 -0600
Hi-
I just wanted to let you know that both of my saddles that were stolen in December have been recovered... I spotted one of my saddles on ebay and notified the police and they tracked the people who listed it and it was a pawn shop not far from where I lived. They still had my saddle so I was able to eventually get it back. I didn't know that whenever someone pawns something, they need to have a picture ID and give a finger print. I also learned that the pawn shops need to make a list of all items that are pawned available to the police. The police then were able to look up the guys name that stole it and found out that he had pawned my other saddle at another pawn shop on the same day. That pawn shop had already sold my saddle, but I went down and talked to the owner of the pawn shop and he was able to contact the guy that bought it and get it back for me. I ended up "buying" my saddle back, but it was worth it to me. The only thing that I never found was my new saddle pad, but that was replaceable.
Thanks for your help,
Dru Fry

location: Sandy/Salt Lake
how missing: I returned home from work about 6:00pm and after I drove in the garage and went around to unload my car, I realized that my 2 saddles were missing from the saddle stands. The garage doors were closed and open with a garage door opener. The back door was closed but not locked because it boarders the dog run and anyone would have to come through the dog run to get into the garage. We believe that someone had a garage door opener that opened our garage door and then they grabbed the 2 saddles which were on stands near the door.
