Joe's Story as told by owner

Joe 20+ year old  Line Back Dunn originally purchased by elderly lady who couldn't stand seeing his 1st owner beat him for not performing just as he wanted him to at the Rodeo where he was forced to Barrel Race day in & day out  , she watch this beautiful horse wither to a depressed soul with teeth knocked out from a 2 x4 swung at his face until she could no longer stand it & she was willing to pay whatever price they wanted...She purchased Joe 14 years ago for $12,500.00.

One day she moved all the Horses out of one pasture in to another while she burnt some brush , 3 days later she turned them back into the pasture where the brush had been burnt , unknown to her there was a hot spot of ash that Joe found & he rolled in it causing such a horrible burn that every Vet around said " Put Him Down" she was determined no matter how much money it cost Joe would get the care he needed to survive Unless God choose otherwise she wanted more time with Joe to teach him not all humans are bad . She wanted him to feel love & be properly cared for so after 1 year & thousands of dollars in treatment Joes burns healed leaving just a horrible scar on hsi entire right side to match the many in his heart...
2 Years ago This elderly lady learned she could no longer provide for Joe & sought out a Rescue that Joe could go to to live out the rest of his life being happy, well taken care of & be giving lots of love...

11/12/02 7am Joe was stolen from the Rescue that took him in , Brooks Farm Animal Rescue in Ardmore , AL.  the 2 local sheriff dept. were called , messages were posted on every message board available on the internet , a Group called NetPosse heard of Joe plight & got involved they created a Stolen horse flier & distributed links to the flier across the internet that could be printed off & hung at area stores, past out at sales ect. Cyndi Brooks with Brooks Farm Animal Rescue printed off some of these fliers & posted them every place imaginable..

11/16/02 Cyndi Brooks received a call from a family in TN that had found Joe that previous Thursday 11/14/02 walking alongside the road in front of the Stateline Horse Arena some 20 miles from home,  they called the 4 surrounding sheriffs dept, both AL & TN state troopers offices & were told that NO one had any reports of any lost, missing or stolen horses. They called the local newspaper to place an ad.

on 11/16/02 Thy had went to a near by town & saw a Flier created by NetPosse about Joe the STOLEN horse & knew when they seen the picture with his scar showing that without doubt that was the horse in there pasture so they returned home & immediately called Cyndi Brooks who then went & pick Joe up & brought him home
