Stolen 12-day-old Colt from Ohio - (pictured
below)
At what age can a horse be stolen? No horse is immune to the perils of horse theft...not even the babies.
It is surprising to me the number of fillies and colts that are reported missing/stolen here at Stolen Horse International, Inc. Take a moment to read the letter below from an owner of a stolen colt last week.
Happily, I can announce that the colt below has been recovered. Connie called me and said the police had recovered the baby. He was stolen and picked up in a small car! Did you think all horses are loaded onto trailers?
I hope to have more details later but wanted you to know that he is home. His mother excepted him and as of this posting he was doing fine, despite not eating for a couple of days.
Previous Letter from owner:
Dear Debi,
This 12 day old baby was taken from his stall and from his mother in the early morning of 6-06-03. He has only a slim chance of survival without his mother, or an experienced horse person to care for him. He was imprinted at birth, so he thinks he is human. He loves people.
There is no way possible for him to have gotten alone. Whomever took him opened and entered the paddock area (which only enters into additional paddocks and pastures). Then opened and entered the back entrance to our barn, opened the stall doors to two mare's stalls and left all the doors and gaites open and left with the baby. Our yard to the front is also fenced in.
It is so important for his survival that we find him soon. Please help me with any information you have for contacts. This is my children's horse and our whole family is devastated.
Thank you,
Connie
