Holly's Tale

After only a week, we have received our Christmas Miracle and our babies are home.

My husband was crying when he called to tell me the police had called to tell him that they were pretty sure they knew where our horses were.  The next two days we were on pins and needles before finally getting the go ahead to pick them up.  Blackjack, our attitude horse, had developed more of one.  He was not happy at the disruption of his life either.  Midnight, our gentle soul, fared a bit worse.  Either he was not fed or didn't eat, because you can see every one of his ribs and his hip bones.  He is not yet as trusting as before, but we're loving on them, talking soothingly, and hope we can make them forget the past week.

We not only have our horses back, but I really feel like I have my life back. The anguish of not knowing is gone.  The hours of both phones in my ear and fingers on the computer keyboard all at the same time are gone.  Unfortunately, the innocence and peace of mind are also gone.  We're still scrambling to get extra security measures in place.  I find myself counting heads more often throughout the day.  And any vehicle passing my house is under more scrutiny.

We are thrilled though to have them back. We are grateful to all who printed and posted flyers, which directly led to their discovery.  We are grateful to NetPosse for getting the flyer up on the internet.  And we are grateful for the many happy e-mails of other horse people sharing in our joy.
