Scout, Stolen Paint Mare - Cherokee County Georgia
SCOUT IS HOME!!!!
Photo Right: The "new and unimproved" Scout when she came home, skinny, sweaty, roached mane and grey spots from the shoe polish. I will post new pictures tomorrow before and after a bath!
Now I'm going to go back and hug her some more and thank God and all of you who spread the word, searched auctions and sales barns, and emailed from here to California that she is home.
PS - it can happen to you. PLEASE make a donation to Stolen Horse International. These people are AMAZING in scope and knowledge. Should it happen to you, believe me you want them to still be around! SHI is a non-profit (read tax-deductable donation) run by two wonderful girls, Debi Metcalf and her right hand woman Angela, and they are the reason Scout is home. God works miracles every day!
Jan 8, 2006 5:39 PM - I just received a call from
Carol and she said Scout is home! She walked up to her front
porch just this moment! Some may be quick to think
that she just got out. Keep in mind the fence was cut.
Even more proof that she was taken is that her mane has now been
cut too. We will have more to this story later. Carol
is taking pictures, crying and rejoicing that her ordeal is over
in less than 48 hours. She was quick to thank NetPosse and
all the others who have helped in anyway. She believes this
is the reason she has been brought back. We attribute Scouts
return to everyone and plus the owners. They have worked day
and night to get their horse home.
Jan. 8, 2006 From Carol 5:47 - OHMYGOSH - Scout just showed up on
my doorstep! A sheriff and two boys showed up with her, said they found her running down Hwy 372, trying to get home.
She was covered with sweat, had dropped at least 100 pounds, and her
mane is completely cut off and there is black shoe polish over all of her white markings, but she's safe and HAPPY TO BE HOME! Obviously all the hard work Stolen Horse International did paid off - they scared whoever stole her and tried to cover up her gorgeous markings into letting her go!
I will post updated photos of the "new and unimproved" Scout on her webpage tonight - right now I'm going to go back and hug her some more and thank God and all of you who spread the word, searched auctions and sales barns, and emailed from here to California that she is home. THANK YOU Darron Barrus (and happy birthday!) and Gary Shockley - my Alabama Angels.

Thank you, God works miracles every day, thank Him, too! :-) I'm going to go hug Scout some more...

other notes: Scout was stolen from my property in broad daylight on Friday, January 6 between 11AM and 2PM. I fed her breakfast, went out to check on her, and she was gone. My old pony and miniature donkey were still in the pasture. The fence had been cut and Scout was gone.
I have contacted the Sheriff's Department, the Agriculture Department, local
veterinarians, and called slaughterhouses and auctions. She has most
likely been taken out of state, so you southeasterners, please keep your
eyes and ears open for my baby. I have created a page on our website
for Scout, please forgive the design - it's hard to do with tears. I
just want my big beautiful girl home, and would appreciate anyone who
works in vet's offices or shops at pet supply stores to please, please,
please print out and post the flyer when you go. I am offering a $2,500 cash reward no questions asked to
