We are proud to bring you the good news of Sonny's recovery on the anniversary of 9/11 ~ Please remember those who died and those who survived. God Bless America!
RECOVERED! 9/11/07 - Chestnut Arabian Gelding, Sonny, Missing in Uwharrie National Forest in NC - Sept. 2, 2007
We received word this morning, Sept. 11, from one of the head volunteers of the Uwharrie National Forest search party:
... we looked for this horse all weekend and today he showed up behind [my] mother in laws pasture. [The owners] are coming from Virginia today to get Sonny. He is okay, lots of scratches, you can see where he fought to get his tack off.
Great news isn't it that he did come home, maybe it was all that calling I did over there. I am just happy he will be home with his family by tonight.
Elizabeth
We hope to hear from the owner's once Sonny is home and settled down. I know that they are grateful, as are we, to all the Uwharrie volunteers that spent days in the saddle looking for Sonny, along with the owners' new friends Dwight Eaststep, Marion Rice and all the others who volunteered to help find Sonny! ~ NetPosse 9/11/07
FULL TACKED w/Barrel Saddle - "Black Rhyno"
Print flyer here for Sonny
I have a picture of “Sonny” the horse I lost on Sept. 2nd. He is the horse on the [LEFT in the picture below w/the Rocky Mountain horse]. Would you please share this photo with anyone else who might need to know what he looks like? I truly appreciate all of your help in trying to find him. He had a leather halter on with a nameplate of “Sparkles”. I was using my little mares halter. The saddle he is or was wearing is called a Black Rhino barrel saddle. It had a black suede seat and mahogany oak, acorn leave tooling, black strings, and black rawhide wrapped stirrups. If you should need anything or have any questions PLEASE call. Thank-You for all the help." Diane Altizer

Subject: RE: NetPosse Missing Horse Report Form
There have been no sightings of him. There is a person by the name of Dwight Eaststep that has been looking for him since Tuesday. He is a local their and knows the trails well so I am told. Marion Rice also the campground host is also going out to look for him starting Friday I think. Reg, my husband, and myself will be going down Sat. early and Dwight and Marion have a bunch of people heading out to look for him. I believe everyone has been on horseback, but I am not sure.
Thank-You for the help.
