Searching for Fiona
Print flyer here in PDF format. You need Adobe

Below is the form submitted by unknown (nb1320@cox.net) on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 14:41:17
-------------------------------------------------------------
real name: unknown
email: nb1320@cox.net
city: Chepachet
state: Rhode Island
zip: 02814
home phone: 401-568-7476
date: July 29, 2004
type: Riding lessons, trail riding
city county: Agawam, Massachusetts
horses name: Fiona, previously Gwen
breed: unknown
sex: mare
color: grey
age: unknown
weight: unknown
height: roughly 16.1 hands, roughly 1000 pounds, maybe 1100 at the time
identifiable characteristics: "Freckles" under her eyes. (See pictures) Black
muzzle with large nostrils and a pink spot just left of her right nostril. Large
ears, somewhat large head, long tail, thick forelock, and long legs. She was
tall and probably heavier than average, but was not overweight. Her ribs were
slightly more visible than they should be. Her coat was on the thick side.
(The individual hairs were longer than average and very noticeably so in the
winter. I think she may have been a Warmblood. Her mane, forelock, and
especially her tail were not pure white but had a yellowish hue. She had a dark
brown leather halter which was a little loose on her, and a long green lead
rope. They may or may not have been with her at the time of her sale. She has
high separation anxiety. Will act nervous and jittery for weeks and even months
when experiencing a change of location. (When she first arrived and whenever
she was moved to a new stall or paddock.) Excitable when happy, sometimes rears
straight up and then kicks out with both feet for fun.
details: Fiona was used as a lesson horse at the barn I work at. Supposedly
she was sold because she was not a good lesson horse for adults, but better
suited for children. She was sold at Crowley's Sales and Auctions in Agawam,
Massachusetts, most likely on Thursday June 29th, 2004 or around that time.
reward: Yes
reward how much: $300
reward who pays: person making report
reward notes: Any information leading to me finding Fiona. This can include
current or past owners, current or past locations, or contact information for
anyone who may know anything. Any information, no matter how trivial, would be
appreciated. Payment will be made upon my confirmation that it really is her.
other notes: Fiona was supposedly sold to a family. They may have lived in
Massachusetts and they may have had a young daughter or son. I think I remember
hearing that, but I can’t remember for sure.
I would desperately like to know that Fiona wasn’t sold for slaughter and that
she is doing well in her new home. I would like to purchase her if the current
owners ever decide to sell her. I don’t want her to end up back at an auction,
and then going to slaughter or to a bad home. She was a wonderful friend and I
miss her very much.
