Hi Angela,
I'm so happy to be able to tell you that Paisano is home safe and sound. There is a lake in our area with good graze around it, and he went right there. Neighbors found him on Sunday, and he is back to his normal happy self. Thank you so much for your prompt posting of my alert, though - I've had great responses from horse lovers in this area, and it's wonderful to be part of such a caring community. Please let the folks at Net Posse know that this is one story that ended happily!

location: rural Santa Rosa, Sonoma County
how missing: Horse was being moved to a new location late in the day and was spooked by noise (dirt bikes/cars) from a nearby road. He escaped the pasture area and was seen running east. The area was extensively searched until full dark, and hoofprints were found, but the trail was lost. Sheriff, SPCA, and local rescue organizations were notified, but the horse has not yet been located. The terrain is hilly and chaparral/forested, and sighting conditions are difficult. This horse is in an area that is unfamiliar to him, and may be nervous, but he is generally even-tempered and has good manners.
