From: Erin Hurley

Subject: RE: Now It's Personal
WE WON!!!!!!!! The judge ordered that the horse that Bonnie Erickson fraudulently adopted on January 5, 2007 and then SOLD on January 13, 2007 to a local girl, Nicole Garamore of Paris Hill Equestrian Center NY for $1100.00 – be immediately returned to South Jersey TB Rescue in New Jersey. The mare is being returned in the next few days. Finally. What a long journey.
Thanks to all of the people who helped us along the way, the horse community is wonderful – Thanks for all of the support and Help!!

Subject: RE: Missing Horse
Please forward this to every horse person you know (or don’t know!) FYI - (name undisclosed) of North Brookfield, NY fraudulently adopted a TB mare from our Rescue group, South Jersey TB Rescue of Medford, NJ on Jan 5th, 2007. She sold the horse to (name and place undisclosed) in Saquoit, NY - 7 days later for $1100. She then lied to the police, myself and countless other people about the whereabouts of our horse for 2 months until we ended up in court on April 5th, 2007. At one point she said the horse was in Ohio with family. Her attorney was forced to disclose the location of the horse (the adopter did not show up in court) and the Judge ordered for the IMMEDIATE return off the horse to us. We lined up a trailer, went to our mare’s location and then found out that the mare had, in fact, been sold to the owner of the farm and he was not letting the horse go anywhere without documentation/paperwork from the court. The adopter then showed up and defiantly said that the horse had been paid for (She left a BAD donation check which bounced twice!) and that since we did not have the judge’s order we should not get to take the horse. It ended with 4 police cars pulling in - - and even though everyone now understands that we own the horse, we cannot take her until we can get the paperwork - - Friday (of course) was Good Friday, the courts were closed. We are counting the hours until Monday April 9th when the Madison County Supreme Court opens and we can get the court transcripts so that we can have the Police accompany a shipper to get our mare. We still need to get a new shipper now – to bring our horse finally home to our farm in NJ. If anyone has any ideas for a shipper, please let us know and please warn the horse community - - so that people can be protected and horses can be protected. No one should have to go through what we went through. Sadly, when we finally were permitted to see our horse, I did not even recognize her, and had to check the tattoo. Please – forward this e-mail – the horse community needs to be aware of this story. We intend to write a story ( or a book or a movie!) because it is just such an unbelievable story.
