RECOVERED July 2006 - Fleabitten Gray Arabian Gelding Missing in Mass. after Broken Agreement, Summer 2005Jazz Singer is Home!

Jazzsinger's owner has just notified NetPosse (2/13/07) that he is home! Read about his awful ordeal in her words:

Hi Netposse.com
Awhile back I asked you and your community of horse lovers to help me find my beloved gelding Jazz who was taken from me and sold without my permission. Well I completely forgot to tell you that He's HOME! Last July I found him in a small town in NH and bought him back. (yes I had to buy back my own horse...ridiculous)

As the story goes he was free leased to a woman who then sold him to another woman who was completely ignorant and irresponsible and starved him and another gelding that he was pastured with. They were not fed, had no water, shelter or farrier care for nearly a year. A neighbor who finally noticed this abuse knocked on her door and offered a couple hundred dollars for the horses and began the LONG process of helping them recover. She had the vet out immediately and was told that Jazz would have been dead in 3-5 days had she not rescued him when she did. By the time I found him she had had him for a few months (2-3) and he was still several hundred pounds underweight. But after bringing him home, he spent the summer eating and I can now say he has fully recovered and is healthy and happy...what more could I ask for.
Jazz Singer is Home!
It was a difficult and often times frustrating process to track him down and bring him home but it was soooo worth it. Many people told me to give up looking but the support I received from your website and those who check it and want to help out was amazing. Thanks netposse.com!

Sincerely,
Shoshana & Jazz

color: Fleabitten grey

age: 22

weight: unsure

height: 14.2

identifiable characteristics: Jazz is an older fleabitten grey Arabian gelding. He has no tattoos or brands. His muzzle is grey and has a pink skin-colored part that makes somewhat of an awkward diamond shape. His hooves are slightly different from one another in color. when facing him, the front right is a medium color grey, the left is more tan, and his left hind is a medium grey, and his right hind is a more tan colored. He is a very personable horse and trusting, but can be slightly jumpy at things he is unsure of and can be spooky when riding him, he also tends to refuse large or colored jumps. Is very mild mannered, easy to tack up, does not like his ears being touched, is not food aggressive, is good for things like the farrier, blanketing, and is VERY good when being bathed. Rides nicely, frames up, and moves like that of a much younger horse, with a good rider he can perform dressage moves etc.

how missing details: I leased my horse over to some people who ended up abusing him. In order for me to take him out of this situation I signed my horse over to a women I knew thinking that since I knew her my horse would be fine and in a sense “always mine”. He was boarded at a barn in North Andover, when she was asked to leave she took my horse with her. She then started preventing me from seeing my horse. I learned from some people at the barn she is currently at in Groton MA. (Contact submitter for name of farm) that she had sold my gelding (and his pasture mate, Bluee) and in doing so she has breeched the agreement we had both agreed to. I was to be given first right of refusal, and by selling him without telling me; clearly she did not follow what was agreed to.
