Dan was seen this morning shortly after midnight by Blue Ridge Parkway Ranger Katherine Britt while patrolling on the parkway. She immediately recognized him and called his owner Candace Polling.

Candace and friend Stephanie Supernaunt immediately went to the site where he was seen by ranger Britt. When ranger Britt approached Dan he shied away and went back into the woods.

When Candace and Stephanie arrived on site they had several cans of grain with them and gave one to ranger Britt.

The two parties then split up and went different directions to look for Dan.

A few minutes later ranger Britt saw Dan again and was able to catch him with the grain can trick!

Shortly thereafter Candace was reunited with her horse.

Dan did not have any tack on when found.

Candace reports he is in relatively good shape, has some scratches and bumps, a few ticks and is a few pounds lighter but otherwise OK.

Candace wants to thank everyone who has assisted in the search and especially ranger Britt, who incidentally is a horse owner herself.
