Sorrel Overo APHA Mare disappeared from pasture – Morgan County, Indiana – June 26, 2006
RECOVERED! Sept 2006
Message from Classy's Owner
Received Nov. 7, 2006
Hi there! I was browsing the website this a.m. and realized that I had never contacted you to let you know that Classy has been recovered! What a blessing! My husband's uncle came to us while we were building fence in September and said, I have a horse in my bean field, do you want to come see if it's yours? I'm here to tell you, my heart could hardly stand it!!!! We saw her standing in the corner of the bean field and she came right to us. She was VERY thin, tail and mane were clean, no cuts on her legs or anything. Her coat was very rough, but she was alive! We walked her home and truly believe the thieves dropped her off 'in the area' that Sunday morning. If she had been lost in the woods for more than 2 months, I believe her tail would have been a mess and she would have been fat from all the stuff to eat up there. She was pictured on the local news channel last week because another couple who lives in Martinsville, IN, have had their horse stolen ...
Thank you so much for all the help and the emails and the well wishes I received from people who scan your website daily! You are truly a Godsend!
Have an AWESOME day!!!!!!!!!!!!

how missing: We moved my daughters horse recently to our home from the barn so we could pasture her locally. My husband heard a lot of barking out of the dogs that night, but couldn't see anything unusual. There have been several horses misplaced in our area, such as moved from one pasture to another and so on. There are no breaks in the fencing and the gates are closed and secure in all the cases locally.

Classy actually belongs to our oldest daughter, Samantha. Samantha had left early that morning to attend an outdoor concert all day. Knowing she would certainly want to come back home and skip the concert, we didn't call her cell phone to tell her. We called her later that evening and told her we had a surprise for her. We went to her friend's house and picked her up very early the next morning and led her to the barn with her eyes covered. When she saw her Classy, she screamed really loud and cried emotionally! She sat with her the entire rest of the day and just loved her.
Classy can't be ridden just yet as she was very thin. We tried to put a saddle on her and what once was a horse you could saddle anywhere and ride, she is very skittish now and we have just gotten to put a lead rope on her and take her to the clover field. She turns out daily with the dairy cows and comes in every evening with them at time to milk.
We don't know what she went through while she was gone, but know it wasn't good. She didn't like men very well, so we wonder if the people who took her figured she wouldn't cooperate with them ever and decided to return her or if their conscience got the best of them. I hope it's the latter of the two.
Thank you so much for all the help and the emails and the well wishes I received from people who scan your website daily! You are truly a Godsend!
Have an AWESOME day!!!!!!!!!!!!
