The stolen ponies have been located and are on their way back home. The county sheriff has a good idea of who did this and are investigating. Thank you all for your help and Hersh and Poppy thank you.

If anyone ever gets into this situation go to www.netposse.com .  Within hours of posting info with them I was getting emails from all over the country and the TV stations started calling.

Thanks again and have a great holiday!!

Subject: RE: PONIES FOUND!!!
Not absolutely sure now but they suspect someone in the area who has a drug problem and was fired from this ranch about a year ago.  The ponies were found in a pasture mixed in with a bunch of cows.  What we think may have happened is these people walked them out.  Hersh, being Hersh, could very well have bolted which would cause Poppy to bolt too.  How they ended up in this pasture is anyone's guess but the people who owned the pasture had heard about the theft and called the Sheriff.  Happy ending!  Poppy is the best friend of a three year old who adores her.  - Burta Boysen

how stolen: The gelding is owned by Marilyn Hansen who lives on Circle K farm. The filly was bought by Peggy Penny who boards there but payment has not been completed so ownership papers still reside with the Boysen's who own Thousand Welcomes Farm, a Chincoteague Pony breeding farm. It is believed someone may have come onto the farm when no one was there and simply took them. It is strange that out of a whole pasture of brood mares on the two Chincoteague ponies were taken.

Thursday, December 22, 2005 3:38 AM - Two Chincoteague ponies were stolen sometime in the last 36 hours from Circle K Ranch here in Graham, NC. One is an 18 month old black and white paint filly. She is unmistakable to identify because she has a butterfly on the top of her rump. Her name is Tidewater Papillon. She belongs to me. The other is a liver chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail gelding. His name is Hersh. Both of these ponies disappeared from a pasture we think sometime during the night. The fence line has been checked and it's fine so the only way these two left was someone taking them out. The two of them do not typically hang out together so they would not leave the pasture together. the surrounding area has been totally searched and law enforcement is now involved.

If you all could be on the lookout for new horses in your area I would appreciate it and if you could spread the word maybe someone will see them. The man who owns the ranch is a retired motorcycle cop so I feel sorry for whoever did this. We're hoping they stay in the tri-state area, NC, SC, VA but they could be half way around the country by now. Your help is appreciated. Poppy was being purchased for a little girl.
