READ SANDY'S ENTIRE RECOVERY STORY AND KELLY'S THANK YOU TO NETPOSSE - Wednesday, November 01, 2006 2:09 PM

Sandy was recovered in South Carolina. She was returned home in good health thanks to a 12-year-old boy who understood how much she meant to Kelly! This little boy's grandfather had bought the mare for his grandson, and was concerned about how the boy would react to losing his horse. When shown a NetPosse flyer about Sandy, the little boy bravely told his granddaddy that Sandy belonged to Kelly and she needed to go home.

Taz is STILL MISSING - he was believed to have been sold at an auction in Cookeville, Tennessee last July. Please help Kelly get him back ... we want this to be a 100% recovery effort!

We have been advised that the person we were boarding from and his girlfriend have up and left the area and took the horses with them. We heard they left the barn approximately sometime in the summer. SANDY'S LETTER - Wednesday, November 01, 2006 2:09 PM

Dear Debi,

Here is some updated information for your website/flier.

Sandy was recovered on Sunday 10/29/06.

The man in TN (near Elizabethton) that purchased her from the man that stole and sold our horses knew Sandy's where-abouts and contacted the person about the situation and for him to recover her for the trip back home. She was all the way in Gray Court SC at a horse farm, where she was purchased for the man's twelve year old grandson. The person did not want to relinquish the horse back to us!

Upon showing him and the grandson the Stolen Horse International/Net Posse Flyer ...the twelve year old said that 'well if it is the ladies horse and she was stolen the lady must be sad and we need to give her horse back'...amazing that the twelve year old was the one with the common sense and big heart! We picked Sandy up in TN and she is now safe and sound in an undisclosed area.

We also would like to thank a NetPosse member Christy for her time and energy in confirming that Sandy was in fact at the SC location and for providing us with photos for our records.

We are still on the trail with tracking down leads on Taz's where-abouts..another NetPosse member emailed that he may have been sold at an auction in Wytheville VA and is now at a horse-training facility. The man that purchased both our horses from the thief said he took Taz to an auction in Cookeville TN sometime in July, however as you will read below, there may be conflicting facts and of course more lies and tall tails being told.

As of 10/30/06 after finally being able to search (the alleged thief) Mr. Smith's new location (which is in N. Wilkesboro NC and includes a pasture and barn), we found Taz's halter in the tack room. Two horses were in the pasture, one Draft Horse (Mare-named Big Sandy), she was originally at the location in Avery County with our horses and the other horse a smaller thoroughbred-looking horse (bay w/dark socks). During this search the thief told us/sheriff that Taz was sold to a businessman in Boone NC. (there are some details to this information on Taz that we are not including, until we have exhausted this search).

Mr Smith was arrested on 10/14/06 and released on a $2,500.00 unsecured bond and had a court date on 10/19/06.

Thanks so much Debi, and let me know if this information is ok for the update and if possible if the flyer could be updated too and then I'll print out a new and make copies to repost at all the locations we visited. Also Taz is approx. 15.2 hands and trained in dressage/pleasure and he needs special care for allergies.
