Stolen White/Grey Arabian Mare – Freeland, Michigan – 12/10/06
RECOVERED 12/18/06 -- Case of Mistaken Identity!
A woman and her daughter mistakenly took Mecca when they attempted to repossess a horse they'd been looking for more than 2 years. They knew the buyer lived in the area and still had the horse. Mecca was returned to the Flach's. Charges may be pending.

how missing: Mecca was removed from her stall, walked out of the barn then out of a locked pasture gate and right down our driveway (which is between our house and barn and down the road to the east. They had to take her in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. They got into our sweet-feed bag and store our pail, we think leading Mecca with the sweet-feed. There were footprints in the snow next to Mecca's leading down the driveway and then down the shoulder of the road. Also a trail of sweet-feed. We also found footprints where someone had stood at the edge of the pasture and was watching our property. She seems to have vanished, nobody heard anything in the night and Mecca does not trailer easy! She is a rescue horse and can be very nervous, which is also characteristic of the Arabian breed, however, she is the sweetest thing and wouldn't hurt a soul.
