Hi,
Joyce Flick here, we are the folks who have the missing horse out here in Idaho. Little Sister, the dark gray mare. We found her. We heard that she was seen up in the area where she went missing. That was on Sunday the [26th]
of Oct. We went up on Tuesday, we rode all day the next day, then all day on Thursday, looking for her, and when we returned to our outfit Thursday, there was a note on the truck, some hunters had found her hung up in a bog. We had left everyone we ran into know that we were looking for her, and the forest service had also left people know.
We set camp up at a very open spot where anyone coming in or out of the area would see our outfit and know who we were. This all paid off. She was just a little the worse for wear, the saddle was still on her, breast collar still on, minus the blanket and rifle scabbard, and the saddle had been hanging almost
completely under her from what the hunters said, and it shows on her, big old sore on her back, and the back of her one front leg was all brushed burned
looking. After exactly 2 weeks in the wilderness, she was happy to be back with us.
Thank you for your quick help, folks we knew from back east e mailed, asking us if it was us. The word got out pretty fast, thanks again for your help.

full details:
I was hunting in the Elk Creek area which is between Lowman and Stanley in Idaho. Camp was several miles from the Elk Creek Trailhead, a short distance from the Elk Creek Forest Service Headquarters in the Bear Valley area. I left camp on this mare at 5:30 in the a.m. of Oct. 16th, took her bridle off, leaving her halter on, and with a lead rope, tied her to a small tree then proceeded on foot to look for elk sign. When I came back several hours later, she had gotten loose and was gone.
I tracked her back towards camp, but she had bypassed camp by a few hundred yards, and it appeared that she was heading back to the trailhead and the horse trailer. I have camped and hunted with her in this area for several years now, and she has been up in this area several times in the past few months on scouting trips also, she is very familiar with the area. I decided not to follow her any further, as it would be getting dark shortly. The next morning, two of us left camp and tracked her to the trailhead. we could see where she had started towards another camp, but then went on by, then she went on to the trailhead, where she had gotten into the bag of packer pellets and ate some of them, then milled around the trailer for quite sometime.
Then she was walking along the road where she was then chased by a 4-wheeler. She ran into the trees, then back out on the road, then it appears that the 4-wheeler got ahead of her, did a quick turn around, then the foot prints show the driver got off the ATV and walked towards her. He caught her up, then led her towards the 4-wheeler, he only led her a short distance, then a truck/trailer pulled off to the side, and stopped, and then her tracks lead up to the trailer, and that's where all signs end.
