Bay Tobiano Paint Mare Stolen in Los Angeles County, California – 2/26/07
Sunday 12:00 PM PST - Lily has been recovered as of
Saturday at 5:30 thanks to the news media coverage and the hard work of the
owners. Janet will send details later so check back for the rest of the
story with pictures. This is a great story. You will not want to miss it!
LOS ANGELES -- Horse owner Janet
Vankanegan of Norwalk law had last seen her horse, Lily, on
Monday on a Norwalk equestrian trail. Lily got spooked,
threw Vankanegan off and then ran away. Vankanegan said Lily
was stolen when a surveillance video showed Lily in the
parking lot of a Rosecrans Carrows restaurant, and a man was
seen riding the horse. The two were reunited over the
weekend, when the man called to say he had Lily in his
possession and would return her.

Lily
Per Witnesses & Surveillance Tape, Lily was loaded onto a WHITE TRAILER (no windows, possibly Cargo) by several Mexican Men. More info below ...
NOTE: Be on the lookout for this mare at auctions and rodeos. It is also
possible that she could be used in Mexican rodeos for horse tripping. If you
know of any of these types of rodeos in your area, PLEASE keep an eye out for
Lily. Here is a link to the reality of:

how missing: Lily spooked on the trail and lost her rider. It is a very populated area and there is no open space. She ran down the trail toward home, past home and exited the trail on Rosecrans Blvd. She went into a Carrows Restaurant / Motel 6 Parking lot on Roscrans just W of the 605. The manager of the Carrows said he saw her come in followed by two possibly more men. They caught her and spent some time with her then one of them got on and rode her around the parking lot for a while, then he got off and walked her to a corner.
We were able to view some surveillance tape and talk to some people who told us that the horse was taken by a group of Mexican men. They loaded her into a white trailer with no windows (on the surveillance tape it actually looks like it could be a cargo trailer). The truck they were driving was dark colored. One of the men was about 6 foot, bald and had tattoos … This particular individual by all accounts was not at all comfortable with the horse. Some of the other men were however and proceeded to ride her around and make all kinds of noise. The first guys on the scene had a white late model toyota camry. A new black sedan pulled up possibly a Cadillac or a Lincoln and several more men got out of this vehicle and joined the horse group. I did not see the camry on the tape but I did see the black car
