ARMY VETERAN’S THERAPY HORSES MISSING FOLLOWING HURRICANE HARVEY, – Augustus aka “Gus” & Bronco – Texas

Beaumont (Jefferson County), TX Friday October 20, 2017

Gus & Bronco went missing during the flooding of Hurricane Harvey. Gus & Bronco were last seen on August 29, 2017 when their owner, Tammy Toups, and her family were evacuated by game wardens of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). She was forced to leave her horses behind on the porch of her house. Ms. Toups had 2 boards screwed/nailed to the porch where she left the horses along with her horse trailer backed up to the porch, so they could access food/water inside the trailer.

Ms. Toups asked Stolen Horse International aka NetPosse.com for assistance in locating her therapy horses. Ms. Toups advised that Jefferson County Sheriff Department has been notified of the missing horses and are actively searching for them.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also known as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“Gus & Bronco are my therapy horses and they help me cope with my PTSD.”, says Tammy Toups, owner. “I feel pretty sure they were rescued or taken. I believe someone came to my house and took them.” Ms. Toups’ daughter, Kathryn Comisky has been helping her Mother with the search for her horses. She has been working closely with the volunteers at Stolen Horse International including posting their flyer to every rescue site and livestock group she can find. Ms. Toups has expressed that all she wants is her horses back, no questions asked. An anonymous donor is offering a $5000 reward for the safe return of the horses.

On October 5, 2017, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Ms. Toups’ daughter and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

You will find Gus & Bronco’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in their NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. Anyone interested in helping can search for report number NR005344 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=5344

“Circulating the flyer for Gus & Bronco as well as the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as they could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post their flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Tammy Toups, Kathryn Comisky, Jefferson County Sheriff Department or Stolen Horse International with any information.
