  1. There was no plan for this organization. It began organically with the theft of Idaho.
  2. Idaho, stolen from our founders in Shelby, NC, was the first alert for a stolen horse ever on the internet.
  3. The organization started in 1997 and has become the lost and found of the equine idustry.
  4. The news media branded Stolen Horse International as “NetPosse”.
  5. Stolen Horse International was founded in 2003 as a nonprofit organization.
  6. The organization is funded almost entirely by donations and fundraisers.
  7. The website has a NetPosse Store.
  8. The organization was the first in the United States to sell a microchip kit directly to the public in an effort to provide VIN numbers for horses. Proceeds support the charity.
  9. Stolen Horse International was the first to refer to a microchip as a VIN number.
  10. There are no paid employees, no salaries are paid. The organization is run entirely by volunteers.
  11. Volunteers donated hundreds of hours a week to help run the organization.
  12. The organization has a website, netposse.com, where millions of people from around the world have visited.
  13. The website has been revised 5 times over 20 years and is fully mobile. The website has over 5,000 horse reports that can be searched by the public in numerous ways.
  14. The cost of the website is a minimum of $400 per month.
  15. Stolen Horse International’s purpose is to provide an equine protection network for horse owners.
  16. Another purpose is to provide search and recovery tools for victims with missing, lost and stolen horses through our Victim’s Services Program.
  17. Stolen Horse has assisted over 6,000 victims and thousands of other horse owners through our Educational Outreach Program.
  18. Our founders and key volunteers provide educational services at equine events, expos, conferences, horse organizations and more.
  19. News articles are written and maintained on NetPosse.com as part of our Educational Outreach Program.
  20. Stolen Horse International, Inc., was the first to have an all-equine identification program and registry known as NetPosse Identification Program—NIP. All horses and all ID’s can be registered.
