Missing horse reunited with his owner at Gambrills stable

A search party started looking for the horse that day, and consisted of Maryland State Police, Howard County police and volunteers. The Facebook page "Where is Play Doh?" was also created on May 27 and garnered more than 1,200 likes.

On Wednesday, two hikers found the horse unable to walk near Woodstock, Maryland. Play Doh's sponge leash was tied around his leg and his saddle was flipped on his side, Dwyer said. He also had blisters from carried his tack for 12-days straight.

The hikers told police, since they had seen posters of Play Doh at a nearby inn. He was taken to Ebb Tide Stables where he was returned to Crawford and inspected by a vet.

Play Doh is expected to make a full-recovery and will leave the stable in the next couple of days, Dwyer said. The horse didn't show signs of dehydration or hunger.

It's not common for horses to go missing for more than 8-12 hours, Dwyer said. Since they are herd animals, they have the instinct to find other horses or a stable.

But that wasn't the case for Play Doh.

"He didn't seem to care about other horses," Dwyer said.
