Pasquotank County deputies believed "Cajun Cupid' might have been stolen after searches of the area turned up nothing.

But around 11:00 a.m. Thursday, a search party found the 16-year-old dead in a thick wooded area near the pasture.

Deputies say it appears the horse got its feet tangled in some vines, fell over, and couldn't get loose.  They believe the horse became dehydrated and stressed while trying to get untangled.
