SAGAMORE HILLS — More than two weeks after fireworks are believed to have frightened away Foxy, a reward for information leading to the safe return of the horse has doubled from $2,500 to $5,000, said township resident Joyce Stayanchi, who owns Foxy with her husband Joe.

“She hasn’t been found yet. People are still out searching,” said Stayanchi, adding there have been “no sightings, no tips.”

Foxy disappeared from her Dunham Road home July 3, where a neighbor was watching her while the Stayanchis were away. Searchers have included the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Rangers, Metro Park Horse Rangers, Sagamore Hills Police Department, Ohio Horseman’s Council, and other volunteers, including a couple of people who have used drones to search from the air. Stayanchi’s daughter Chelsea Heck is providing updates about the search on her Facebook page.

“I just hope everyone keeps an eye out for her,” said Stayanchi. “Thank you to everybody who has helped look for her. We really appreciate it.”

The 15-year-old Foxy is Stayanchi’s only horse. She bought her last year in Madison. Foxy is an American Paint sorrel color — reddish brown with white patches and four white socks on the bottoms of her legs — and stands 14 hands, 2 inches, or nearly 6 feet high.

Anyone with any information may call Joyce Stayanchi at 440-637-6070, Joe Stayanchi at 440-346-2766 or their home phone at 330-467-6842.
