STOLEN EQUINE, – MINNIE and DAFFY – South Dakota

Pine Ridge (OGLALA County), SD Tuesday, September 27, 2016

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, Sable Nelson’s horses, Minnie and Daffy were reported missing from their property.

Ms. Nelson asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their horses. The horses were last seen on September 14, 2016. The north gate from their pasture was found open and hoof tracks were noted leading away from the property. Sable Nelson has notified Pine Ridge Police Department, BIA, Nebraska Brand Inspector and South Dakota Brand Board.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also known as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“The older mare was a gift from my Grandma. I broke her to ride, have had her ever since she was a weanling. I had a colt that had died that was out of her. This is the first colt that I had of hers that I was going to break.”, says Sable Nelson. “I am in shock that they are gone. I moved alot and Minnie has always been there with me.” Ms. Nelson went on to tell Stolen Horse International, that she was able to follow the horses hoof tracks for about a mile from the house and then she did not find anymore. She also advised that Minnie is currently bred.

On September 24, 2016, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Nelson and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

You will find Minnie and Daffy’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in their NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR005052 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=5052

“Circulating Minnie and Daffy’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horses could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post their flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sable Nelson, the Pine Ridge Police Department, BIA, Nebraska Brand Inspector, South Dakota Brand Board or Stolen Horse International with any information.
