According to the News Story aired by WSBHENRY COUNTY, Ga. - A Henry County family is heartbroken after their horses were stolen from their backyard. The two horses have been missing since early Wednesday morning.

Henry, a 23-year-old former race horse, and Buddy, a 14-year-old quarter horse, have been with the family for nearly a decade.

“It’s a very empty feeling. Very scary, and empty. (It’s) violating that someone would do this,” Samantha McGinnis said.

The family thought the horses had just gotten out until they realized the fence was cut.

They believe the horses were likely lured with feed and then loaded onto a trailer.

“Totally premeditated. You’ve got to have a horse trailer. You’ve got to have the bulk cutters. You have to have the halters or ropes,” McGinnis’ mother, Rachel Moore said.

The family cannot figure out why someone would take their horses.

Police are investigating the crime, but do not have any suspects.

“We haven’t received any tips as far as suspect vehicle, so we’re hoping that viewers may provide us with some information,” Henry County police Capt. Joey Smith said.

The family has posted pictures on social media in hopes that someone will see their horses and call police. They have also offered a $1,000 cash reward for their safe return.

“They’re part of our family. They’re not just pets. They’re part of our family. They’re not livestock out in the pasture. They are excellent friends,” Moore said.

The family said they may not press charges if their horses are returned.
