STOLEN EQUINE – APRIL – Maryland

Mt. Airy (MONTGOMERY COUNTY), MD Friday July 8, 2016

Wednesday June 29, 2016, Ed & Jessie Watson’s beloved horse, April, was reported missing from her pasture off of the Medd Avenue and Pennshop Road area in Mt. Airy, MD.

Ed & Jessie Watson asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their son’s, Tylen, horse. Mr. Watson advised that they were notified on Wednesday June 29, 2016 that April was missing along with 3 other horses (Pie, Georgia & Buckskin). Originally it was thought that the horses were missing from the co/opp where the horses were kept, however, as further information has been secured, the horses were reportedly taken from a property where they were placed by a neighbor when he found them loose. Two of the horses have been found in Pennsylvania, however, April has not been located. The Watsons have notified Montgomery County Sheriff Department. The Sheriff Department is currently actively investigating the case a theft.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also known as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft and equine ID education and assist in search and recovery of stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“Tylen loves her. He said mom she is worth a million dollars to me.” Jessie Watson went on to say “Wow when he told me how much she meant to him I almost lost it. It took all I had not to cry.” The case manager that has been working on this file at NetPosse.com was told that Tylen walked for miles searching for April. A drone has been used to look at the property from which the horses were taken and has confirmed they are not on that property at this time. The Watsons and NetPosse.com Volunteers continue to follow up on leads that have been coming in. Ed & Jessie Watson would like the help of the public to get the word out about April in hopes of bringing him home to their son, Tylen.

On July 8, 2016, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Vollmers and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

You will find April’s webpage with information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR004981 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: https://netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=4981

“Circulating April’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horse could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of Stolen Horse International. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post April’s flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact information, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Ed & Jessie Watson, Montgomery County Sheriff Department or Stolen Horse International with information.
