Pregnant Palomino Horse Missing and Presumed Stolen from TX Pasture
SANFORD, TX, Friday, June 12, 2015—Wednesday, June 10th, 2015 the Blommaert family’s new horse was standing in their pasture when the sun went down. Thurday morning there was no trace of the horse. She’d vanished into thin air.
Terese Blommaert asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their horse Atkins Lucky Penny, a 17 year old Palomino (blonde) AQHA Quarter Horse mare, who was believed to be lost when the family first discovered her missing. Now they are not so sure and have filed a stolen horse report with the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office.
Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also know as NetPosse.com, is well known in the equine community for horse theft education and assistance in recovering stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.
“This one is special to us because Penny is pregnant. She has just arrived at the Blommaert farm and was adjusting well to her new home and the other horses. Then she was “poof”, gone,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of the nonprofit organization. “Is she lost or stolen? We won’t know for sure until we find her.”
“I just got her. I mean litteraly just got her home from a friends house Monday morning We checked on her often and she was getting along fine with my other broodmares so I felt fine leaving her out,” says Terese Blommaert. “The next day all of the mares were there but Penny.”
On June 11, 2015, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its Web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Terese Blommaert and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.
There are many unanswered questions that pop into mind but the most important one is, where is Penny? Stolen Horse International hopes you will help the Blommaert family answer that question.
You will find Penny’s webpage with all details/information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR002528 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=25228.
“Circulating Penny’s flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horses could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” say the organizations founder Debi Metcalfe. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Penny’s flyer in public places as well.”
The sheriff department’s case number and other information are on the NetPosse flyer and webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Department, (806)274-6343, the owner or Stolen Horse International with information.
