Grisly Finding

Grisly Finding

Police-lights-2.jpgUnder the heading of "You WILL Find Things Other Than What You Were Looking For" (e.g., you find a long lost watch when you are looking for your car keys), it can happen when you go out to hunt for a missing horse, too.

Most of the time, it is just "stuff" - that crop you dropped on a ride, the halter the dog dragged off, or a water bottle you had no idea where it went. But every once in awhile, it turns into an "Oh, Merciful God" and the authorities have to be called.

In Panola County, MS, neighbors looking for a missing horse found the skull of a human. According to Sheriff Dennis Darby, it appears to be that of a woman or a young person. Manner of death is assumed to be a gunshot just above the left ear for right now.

Missing persons reports will be compared to the skull and an investigation is being done. So far, cadaver dogs have not located any additional skeletal remains. But they did alert in two places in the same area. Measures have been taken to secure the area for further investigation.
