Horse International, aka NetPosse,
is the first and only nonprofit
organization dedicated to horse recovery and
theft education in the United States. As a
leader in horse industry since 1998, SHI, a
pioneer that has brought theft awareness
into public light, offers the
NetPosse Identification Program (NIP).
Horse theft, a major problem in the
United States, did not ride out with the
“Old West” days. To help combat this crime
against horse owners and the equine
industry, the NIP database includes, but is
not limited to the following features:
- Breed information
- Type of horse
- Identifying markings
- ID registrations -- freeze brands,
freeze marks, lip tattoos, microchip
numbers, etc.
- Pictures

Can any of these horses be positively Identified?
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it's worth nothing if it can't positively ID your horse! In some of these images it's impossible to tell if the horse has facial markings or socks. What if you have no other picture of your horse? How can you prove the horse belongs to you?
A microchip would tell the difference if a picture couldn't – It’s that simple!

Introduction
Thousands of horses are microchipped with microchips. Thousands of people count on microchips as a means of quick verification of ID for individual horses.
Veterinarians, law enforcement agencies, brand inspectors, state agriculture departments, and others use microchips in the everyday workings of their jobs.
Entities such as the U.S. Border Patrol, disaster response teams, purebred registries, and equine associations find multiple uses for the chip. Security protection, registry certificates and membership benefits are enhanced when an association offers microchips to their members.
Working with Stolen Horse International and Avid, law enforcement officials, inspectors and animal control officers can identify, save, recover and return lost or stolen horses.

ASSOCIATIONS AND REGISTRIES
Are you looking for a new member benefit?
Do you want real life-long value for both horse and owner?
Would you like to offer the microchip in readiness for the National Animal ID System?
Could you use a tool for better event management?
What about registration and office paperwork?
RESCUE AND DISASTER PREPARATION
We applaud the efforts of Equine Rescue programs everywhere. Horses brought into your program should be microchipped and registered in the NIP registry. This helps your group with tracking for the life of the horse.
DISASTERS AND EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
Life is unpredicatable! Natural disasters, personal emergencies, theft, and loss can place horses at risk.
Don't wait until after the hurricane or after the flood or fire. Chip those horses today.
CLINCS
Hold a clinic in conjunction with STOLEN HORSE INTERNATIONAL Book Debi Metcalfe to teach your group about theft prevention and identification methods, most that you can do yourself! . Email us at stolenhorse@netposse.com for details for your specific group.
