To my beloved friend Anne.
In memory of Venus, the horse we both loved.
-Jeannine

Venus du Vey

God with a plan,
Put Venus here on earth.
For such a very special soul,
There had to be a birth.

Venus was unique,
Surely one of a kind.
So majestic and stoic,
With a kind and perfect mind.

Her show horse was lame,
She met Venus at this time.
A match made in heaven,
A future not together would be a crime.

They were better together,
Than they were apart.
They jumped to new heights,
He gave her all his heart.

He was more than just a horse,
So very much more.
A member of her family,
And in a big way her savior.

Everyone who ever met,
This beautiful gentle giant.
Walked away with a feeling,
Of encountering blessed content.

An unexpected tragedy,
Death too early at 19.
One year to the day.
If only they’d foreseen.

For all that knew him,
Together we all grieve.
An angel here on earth,
So sad to see him leave.

They were kindred spirits,
Meant to always be together.
Although not here on earth,
A guardian angel now and forever.

Dear Anne,

I never expected to wake up this morning to such sad news. My heart is breaking, and I'm writing this with tears. I can hardly even get through my emails.

I cannot imagine how difficult this time is for you, but I am at least thankful that you have closure. That you don't have to wonder where he is, how he is and whether or not he wound up at slaughter. Those are small things to be thankful for, I know.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will also say that Venus, in all his beauty and majesty, did something that no other horse has done for NetPosse in quite a while ... he brought thousands of new people to this site that might never have known about it. Because of Venus, I truly believe that other horses will be found and reunited with their owners, and that now more people are aware of horse theft and loss, and they will take the steps to protect their own. Because of Venus, just one more horse might be saved from an unknown fate.

Venus has left his mark on thousands of people that may never have known his presence, stroked his coat or felt his breath. I know you will never forget him. You don't need to. He brought too much to your life. Please take care of yourself, your son and your family. The pain will ease in time. Even if you can't ever remember him without shedding tears, I promise that is okay. It's been almost 6 years since we put my first horse down that I had more than 20 years. I cannot think of him without crying, but I know it's okay because he deserves to be remembered for all he brought to me.

We will put a memorial on NetPosse.com for him, and we'll be more than happy to accept donations in Venus name. Those funds will go to help others that have been in your shoes. While we want all stories on NetPosse to be happy ones, we all need closure.

All my love and prayers to you at this time ~ Angela

Anne,
My heart breaks for you. You and your family have so much on your shoulders right now. I had so hoped this would turn out differently. Venus was obviously a very special horse and I'm sure he is watching over you now. Through him and his memorial we will be able to help others and if nothing else, some of us learned a lot more about what to do should we ever be in the position you were in when you found him missing. Hugs to you and your friends and family who are grieving, ~ Wynn in GA

Words cannot begin to convey the sorrow I feel at the news of your horse s demise ---all I can say is -- I m sorry - so very sorry! ~ Yours, Robin

So very sorry for this tragic ending. I hope somehow, in some strange way, this will give you peace by providing you closure rather than wondering and waiting for your gentle giant's return. Again, so sorry - you will be in my prayers! -- twh, Alabama

Dear Anne, I sit here with a heavy heart & tears for your beautiful baby. I just can't believe that he is gone. He must have served his time & so much better than having been stolen & taken where you couldn't find him. I will keep you in my prayers & thoughts. He was really a true beauty. There is another horse that needs your tender care & love. I know that you will open your heart to one soon. ~ Kathy Burns in GA

I will have you in my thoughts and prayers. Your horse was a regal beautiful animal. Laura Dempsey

Sorry to hear that Venus had pasted away. My horses are not show horses and not worth much. But, their my pride and joy. Most of them are Mustangs but, their my life. Love them all. I had a scare a week ago. That 12 of them gone with no tracks to trace. My world crumbled. Thank God, I found them. So afaird someone had stolen them. And headed to Texas with them. Where I had them in a feild across from my barn. The man had put up a new pasture off in the woods. All of them are safe and sound.

I can feel your loss. So Sorry. So Thankful for Netposse

Keep up the good work and will try to help you as I can.

Thank you Debi, For caring about our horses. When you do clients on the east coast let me know and I will help you when I can.

Thank you Netposse

What can one say with a loss like this. I guess only that you are so lucky to have had him in your life and received the many gifts he gave you. And he was lucky to have you too. I weep with you. ~ Charlotte If you will have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow man. ~ St. Francis of Assis

I know that your hearts are aching at the loss of this magnificent and precious stallion. You may find comfort knowing that so many of your days were blessed having had the experience of his friendship and companionship.

He is now gracing the Green Pastures of Forevermore and has left behind a beautiful and noble legacy. You may be thankful for the trails well-traveled by Venus and a life he so well-lived.

Best regards,

To Venus from Deuce:

I had to put my 28 yo mare, named Deuce, down in May of this year. I just wanted Venus to know that he is welcome to romp with her and gallop around heaven with all of the other champions that are there! ~ D. Manns

I read the story on Venus the stallion.

A few years back a horse I had ridden and trained was returned to the owners in San Jose, Ca and then that very night he disappeared- never to be seen again. We assumed he was stolen but perhaps he fell in something as well.

How sad for the owners and for those of us who are touched by these horses. ~ Susie Solomon

Jeannine,

We were all so very sorry to hear the news that Venus had passed over the rainbow bridge. It must have been wonderful to have such a wonderful bond for so long. Please pass on our deepest sympathy to his family. ~ Jennifer

Go With God, and run like the wind, while you wait for your beloved owner to meet you at the Rainbow Bridge ~ Judith Clark

When I heard of the death, I immediately remembered the story from one of your psychics. They had mention Kansas, Georgia saying she thought your horse was in the area and the woman in the flowing dress. When I read this I thought she meant Canton, GA and felt your horse was still there....Perhaps the woman in the flowing dress was the angel who rode your horse to the Heavens. ~ Cynthia Lawhon

Gosh, I first saw the image of Venus and Anne posted on a list-serve and I was struck.

Why? Back when I was a Pony-Clubber in the then-rural Dunwoody area of Atlanta, well before 400 was built, some breeders of fine Thoroughbred-Thoroughbred crosses mysteriously lost a broodmare in foal. Even the resident Polo player who exercised his horses around the perimeter of the broodmare field did not see, until well after the fact, that the mare had fallen off a small bridge and died there in the creek, right there on the farm, her home.

When I saw Venus posted as missing, and read the details, I was not convinced that he had been stolen.

Subsequently, through the same list-serv, I have learned that he has become one with the earth at his home.

Deeply saddened I am.

But also, I am further reminded that we must do our utmost to determine where our beloved equines are when they do not appear as usual....for they may be so very near even as they ultimately are too far away ever to be warm to our touch again.

My most heartfelt sympathy to Anne.

For years now, every day that the little Arabian who, despite his oddities, has traveled with me and I with him far and wide, stands at his feed bucket in the morning and in the eve without apparent duress or injury, I have said and do say my thanks.

Anne, may you overcome your loss and be healed.

What a lovely one, Venus.

Stephanie

I knew the moment I looked at the first flyer with Venus du Vey's picture how incredibly beautiful his soul is.
I have not been able to cry for months. A lot was bottled iside that only tears could heal. When I read that Venus had been found in the well and saw owner's tribute to this very noble spirit, tears flowed and flowed and flowed. For the loss of the softness in his kind eyes and the many moments their hearts and breathes were one.

Thank you for the gift of sharing and spreading real love. Thank you for letting me know and feel your love.
