NIP Recovery Information
In any situation, including theft and natural disasters, you
should report your missing horse immediately to NIP and
local law enforcement agency (when warranted).
After all information is received at NIP your horse will
receive the following*:

SHI web page
-
A flyer will be constructed if needed
-
Idaho Alert will be issued in specific cases
-
NetPosse Volunteer Network assistance
-
Place on the Idaho Alert Hot Sheet
-
Pictures will be posted
-
SHI report will be listed on website with characteristics
of the horse
* Services may vary depending on type of report filed. Please see information when filing a report and contact SHI with any questions.
All NIP contacts which include NetPosse volunteers, various
groups, law enforcement agencies, brand inspectors, other registry
programs and slaughter facilities can be notified after a police
report is filed, in theft cases.
You will also receive information on how to help yourself in
the search and recovery process. Once the horse is found
information in the NIP database will help verify ownership to
authorities.
