NetPosse Identification Program - NIP Introduction
Any horse registered in NIP will receive a free listing in the event the horse becomes Missing or Stolen.
NetPosse Identification Program (NIP) - Stolen Horse
International, Inc. is the first and only nonprofit organization
dedicated to horse recovery, horse identification and theft
education in the United States. As a leader in horse industry
since 1998, SHI, a pioneer that has brought theft awareness into
public light invites you to protect yourself and your horse
further.
All Breed Registry--All Discipline Registry
NIP is an all breeds registry formed to help record
ownership and establish stolen, missing and lost forums of
networking. Equines need to have a way to be positively
identified for many reasons. Now with the help of the number one
organization behind horse theft and ID awareness, Stolen Horse
International, aka NetPosse, all horses can be registered. This
can aid in establishing ownership in cases of theft and civil
matters. All horses, registered as purebreds or grade horses are
invited and accepted into the registry. Register your horse in

Horse theft, a major problem in the United States, did not ride out with the "Old West" days. To help combat this crime against horse owners and the equine industry, the NIP database includes, but is not limited to the following features:
- Breed information
- Type of horse
- Identifying markings
- ID registrations -- freeze brands, freeze marks, lip tattoos, microchip numbers, etc.
- Pictures
- Much more
Can any of these horses be positively Identified?
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it's worth nothing if it can't positively ID your horse! In some of these images it's impossible to tell if the horse has facial markings or socks. What if you have no other picture of your horse? How can you prove the horse belongs to you?
A microchip would tell the difference if a picture couldn't - It's that simple!
NetPosse Identification Program Enrollment Information - Horses
Any horse can be registered in the NIP database. When a horse is marked with any identification, a registration form should be completed and submitted to NIP.
Horses enrolled in NIP have additional protection in situations of theft, disaster recovery, insurance claims where ownership has to be proven.
